Instructions for Invisalign Use
- Wear Time: Invisalign trays must be worn at least 22 hours daily, with no more than 40 minutes out of the mouth. Wearing trays for less than 22 hours can hinder the progress of tooth movement.
- Tray Schedule: Each set of trays should be worn for two weeks, following the pre-dated schedule.
- Eating and Drinking: You may drink with the trays in but avoid eating with them. While sugary beverages are not recommended, if consumed, rinse your mouth with water thoroughly within 30 minutes.
- Oral Hygiene: Keeping teeth clean prevents cavities and keeps trays in good condition. Use the provided black and gold travel case to store your trays whenever they are removed. Always place trays in the case immediately to avoid loss or damage. Replacing lost trays costs $200. Avoid leaving trays in napkins (to prevent accidental disposal) or near pets (to prevent destruction).
- Saving Previous Trays: Always save the previous set of trays in its numbered Invisalign bag. This is important in case the current set is damaged or lost, as the next set may not fit correctly.
- Switching Trays: When starting a new tray, switch at night before bedtime. Most tooth movement occurs in the first 6-8 hours, and switching at night minimizes interruptions.
- Cleaning Trays: To clean trays, soak them in a cup of hydrogen peroxide. This is antibacterial, safe for oral use, and prevents staining.
By following these instructions, you can ensure effective treatment and maintain your oral health throughout the Invisalign process.
